PopupBlockCaptain Support

PopupBlockCaptain hides known sign-in prompts and selected app-promotion banners in Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad. You can also choose a page element to hide and save that rule for the current website.

Get started

  1. Install PopupBlockCaptain and enable its Safari extension in Safari settings. On iPhone and iPad, open Settings, then Safari → Extensions (under Apps on newer system versions).
  2. Open a website, allow access when Safari asks, and open PopupBlockCaptain from the Safari extensions menu. Reload the page after granting access if needed.
  3. Enable the supported banner categories you want to hide. Automatic rules cover known patterns, including Google sign-in prompts and selected Reddit app promotions.
  4. For another element, choose Choose an element, tap or click it on the page, and confirm. The extension remembers the rule for that website; reload the page to check the result.
  5. Use Pause for 15 minutes to restore hidden content temporarily, or resume earlier. You can also turn the extension off for the current website. Reset this website removes its custom element rules and website override, then returns to your general settings. Autoplay controls can stop supported automatic playback while preserving deliberate playback controls.

What to expect

Automatic hiding covers known patterns and does not block every popup or advertisement. Saved element rules depend on the website's structure and may need to be recreated after it changes. PopupBlockCaptain does not make cookie-consent choices or bypass login, paywalls or restricted content. Autoplay behavior depends on the page and Safari.

Permissions and privacy

Safari controls access to websites so the extension can inspect and hide supported page elements. You can review or revoke access in Safari settings. The extension only applies its saved rules on websites Safari permits it to access.
