FocusTubeSupport
Keep search and chosen videos in view while hiding distracting YT feeds.
Get started
- Enable FocusTube in Safari Settings on Mac, or Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions on iPhone and iPad. Allow access to the supported YT pages.
- Open YT in Safari, then open the FocusTube extension. Choose Study to hide the home recommendations, short-video sections, related videos and comments. Choose Subscriptions to keep the subscriptions feed and comments available.
- Use Pause for 15 minutes to temporarily restore the usual interface. The pause end time survives a reload. Turn FocusTube off to restore hidden sections where the page allows it.
Supported pages and limits
FocusTube changes supported web pages in Safari. Search results, the video player, its controls, descriptions and playlists remain available. It does not change the separate YT app, block advertising or download videos. Site layout updates can affect which sections are recognized.
The extension requests access only to https://www.youtube.com and https://m.youtube.com. It stores three preferences locally: enabled state, selected mode and pause end time.
If something goes wrong
If nothing changes, check that FocusTube is enabled and allowed on the current YT website, then check whether a pause is active.
If a layout update causes a problem, turn FocusTube off or pause it and contact support with the device, Safari version and affected page type. Do not send your watch history or account information. Direct short-video pages show a message with search and pause actions.
Contact support
