How to find which Safari tab is playing audio on Mac

Open TabCaptain from the Safari toolbar and click the blue speaker locator. It reveals the tab currently playing audio, scrolls its row into view, and cycles through other audible tabs when more than one source is active.

Open TabCaptain from Safari

Click the TabCaptain icon in the Safari toolbar. When an unmuted tab is actively producing sound, the blue speaker locator appears beside the search field.

Click the sound locator

Select the speaker button to reveal the playing tab in TabCaptain’s list. The matching row is brought into view, so you can see the page and its site group without checking every Safari window.

Check the next audible tab

If more than one tab is playing sound, click the locator again. TabCaptain moves through the audible tabs in order and returns to the first one after the last.

Mute or unmute from the list

Use the speaker control beside a tab or its site group to mute or unmute sound. The audio indicator keeps the source visible alongside the rest of your open tabs.

Safari’s own speaker indicator helps when the source is already visible. TabCaptain adds a searchable, domain-grouped overview across Safari windows and a dedicated shortcut to the active source.
