What counts as a duplicate?
A useful duplicate check compares open page addresses, not merely similar titles. Two pages can share a title while representing different documents, search results or account states. Conversely, an address with a tracking parameter may look different even when the underlying page feels the same.
Treat the duplicate list as a review queue. Keep the copy that contains the state you need, such as a paused video position, a partially completed form or useful Back history.
Safari's close commands are broader
Safari includes Close Other Tabs and commands for closing tabs to the left or right. These are excellent when the tab bar position expresses your intent. They are not a semantic duplicate finder and may close unrelated pages if used as a substitute for reviewing repeated URLs.
For a small set, select and close individual duplicate tabs. TabCaptain includes finding the duplicates and closing a chosen tab for free. Closing every detected duplicate in one action is a Lifetime Premium feature.
Clean up safely
Before bulk cleanup, save important form work, confirm downloads have finished and note any page whose temporary state matters. If the whole collection may be needed later, a saved session provides a separate recovery point; session saving is part of Lifetime Premium.

- Do not treat matching titles alone as proof.
- Keep the tab with the state you need.
- Use an individual close for selective free cleanup.
